Artificial intelligence is a broad term that refers to the process and result of teaching machines to perform intelligent tasks. AI uses algorithms, coded series of steps, to achieve a desired cognitive function. You might create an algorithm that evaluates past purchasing behavior to better predict what else you might like (Amazon). You could write an algorithm that offers you movie choices based on what you watched in the past (Netflix). An algorithm might also evaluate typed English text and convert it into Swahili (Google Translate).
All of these are forms of artificial intelligence.
So are far more advanced neural networks and deep learning applications that power technology like self-driving cars, advanced image recognition, next-generation prediction engines and artificially intelligent hedge funds.
Our hypothesis at MAII is that artificial intelligence will transform marketing far faster than anticipated, giving marketers two ways forward:
