Hi. We're the Dallas, Texas local guild of the Professional Photographers of America (http://www.ppa.com). We've existed for over 50 years - our basic goals are to foster communication amongst local pro photographers and to raise the standards of professional photography in our area.
We've had the same logo for most of those 50 years, but we're wanting to update to a new look. The main issue is that our old logo features a view camera icon - as we all know the photography world has changed dramatically in the past few years.
The old logo is on our website (http://www.dallasppa.com), but please don't be influenced by it or the website design (we're actually updating the website design, too, in the next few weeks).
Our main wants are to have a contemporary look that is simple and immediately identifiable. It should also be something that will not look dated in 10 years.
As we will be printing the logo in several ways (on our website, on trophies, plaques, pins - and possibly shirts and mugs) it's best to keep the logo color scheme limited. The logo should be able to reproduce without loss of detail as a monochrome version, too.
We go by the DPPA, the Dallas PPA, and the Dallas Professional Photographers Association. The logo should include one of those versions in it.
Please also read my comments on the main page of this contest - I've written some further clarifications there.
