Would like to explore the name ‘Mimi’s Mountain Salsa’ along with a sweet grandmother’s face or upper bust (chest/shoulders/head) set against a backdrop of mountains with a cactus or two. Jalapenos or peppers are totally optional. It should feel like its coming from Mexico.
Would also like to see if we can include the word ‘ROASTED’ in the visual expression. This is more of a composite logo with the name/grandma/mountains/"roasted" all built into the same design. It's not a simple logotype/icon style.
We are also open to seeing the composite without the grandma. In theory it sounds nice but if it becomes too hard to create a universally appealing grandma that doesn't feel too old and frumpy, then we'll keep her out of it. :-) If we lose grandma, then I'd make 'Mimi's' the focal point.
Grandma’s kitchen meets rock and roll. An odd combo, but let’s lean into the contradiction. Imagine a sweet grandma with hidden tattoos who listens to Bruce Springsteen and the Foo Fighters. Maybe she just has that twinkle in her eye that lets you know she is full of spice and fire. This shouldn't be an old, frumpy grandma. She needs to be proud and powerful, not old and frail or meek. LOTS of personality. She can be older with a lot of personality, or a young, timeless, ageless grandma that just feels like a wonderful woman who makes good food.
Simple line art that feels organic in shape and line texture to reflect the handmade quality of the salsa. Nothing too geometric or sleek.
Needs to have a modern aesthetic. Avoid anything that feels too juvenile and cartoonish or clip art-ish.
Don't go old and frumpy. We can’t confuse having a grandma in the logo with designing a logo that would appeal to grandmas. We are NOT trying to appeal to grandmas. We need to appeal to a younger audience who wants a salsa with some kick and some heritage.
Solid colors that are warm, rich and spicey. Choose from brick reds, deep oranges, dusty golds and complimentary browns/greens.
The logos included in the attachment show the range of where we want to be playing. They are quite different, but still all feel organic, hand-crafted, and loaded with personality. They appeal to a modern person though they borrow from a timeless range of style...some quite older. I chose them for illustration style more than anything. The variety in their tone/vibe is all within range. Many don't have color, but please look past that. We do want this logo to be full color.
