Why is GreyTV funding a logo competition?
We are looking for creative, outside-the-box designers to help re-imagine our brand without falling back on the obvious choice of TV icons and the color grey.
What does GreyTV mean?
Since the 1950s, TV was the only way to communicate with audiences with pictures and sound. GreyTV was founded in 2004, just as high-speed internet connections and computers allowed us to imagine that the TV wouldn’t be the only way to do this in the future. At that point, we knew that the concept of the TV was becoming a “grey” area. Since then we’ve seen this transformation continue to pick up pace, with smart phones, tablets, and now watches and eye-glasses that allow audiences to view content, but connect with it in ways that could never before be imagined.
Our name pays tribute to the the fact that TV started the ball rolling over half century ago, and that TV is still where advertisers spend a majority of their advertising dollars, but acknowledges that as an agency we are aware and prepared for the definition of “TV” to continue to evolve and become blurry, or “grey.” In today’s world, nothing is black and white.
Key Takeaway 1: GreyTV connects businesses with their customers.
Key Takeaway 2: GreyTV connects technology to strategy.
What are some reference logos in our industry that we like?
Comparable Advertising Agencies - one of our goals for this logo upgrade is to add a level of sophistication and establishment within the advertising industry, as we approach our 10th Anniversary. Note that most of these logos are very simple, clean and rely heavily on the name. We draw inspiration from this, but feel that there is still an opportunity to add more of the meaning we described above.
