The Blue Planet Foundation (http://www.blueplanetfoundation.org) is seeking a logo design for an innovative online crowd lending platform -- called WEfficiency. This platform allows the general public, the "crowd," to help fund energy efficiency projects for nonprofits in their communities.
Energy efficiency can help thousands of nonprofits lower their energy costs to benefit any mission—whether focused on the arts, human health, education, the environment, or another goal. But many nonprofits struggle to fund the upfront cost of energy improvements, unable to sacrifice today’s one-time donations to fund tomorrow’s energy savings. Ultimately, WEfficiency will help enable thousands of dollars in potential savings, allow nonprofits to do more of the great work they do in the community.
WEfficiency ‘s online digital platform will enable nonprofits to broadcast their energy efficiency funding needs and secure pledges from “crowd” of supporters. When the crowd becomes large enough to fund a proposed project, WEfficiency gathers the pledged support and funds the project. WEfficiency focuses on energy improvements because tangible monthly savings will allow nonprofits to quickly repay the crowd’s upfront donations without any impact on nonprofit revenue. For years afterward, participating nonprofits will reap the bottom line benefit of monthly energy savings.
The success of WEfficiency hinges on support from thousands of lenders, the majority of which will come from the general public. Early adopters will most likely include philanthropic and socially conscious individuals, as well as existing donors or members of the nonprofit beneficiaries. The logo, which will be incorporated into all marketing and outreach material, should focus on this audience.
The platform itself will function similarly to other successful crowdfunding platforms -- Kiva.org, Kickstarter.com or Indiegogo.com.
