NEW MATERIAL / REFINED BRIEF (PLEASE READ)
[NOTE: CREATIVE FONT IDEAS AND HOW THEY INTERACT WITH AND COMPLIMENT THE GRAPHIC ARE IMPORTANT – BUT WE ARE MAINLY INTERESTED IN THE “GRAPHIC” THAT IS TO BE PART OF THE LOGO AND WHICH NEEDS TO STAND ON ITS OWN AT TIMES AS WHEN IT’S THE ONLY THING ON THE SMART PHONE APP ICON]
The logo should convey a young, modern, playful, friendly and even mildly subversive flavor. We want this to spread virally and be viewed as a forum for: 1) frank feedback (e.g. don't like a restaurant... put a Stikky on the front door and leave your thoughts for others to read and comment on); 2) creating memories (e.g. "we were here" or a time line on a trophy or similar artifact); 3) messaging friends ("I'm not home, check in the study room" on a dorm room door); and, even political (think something isn't green? - put a virtual "Stikky" on it). Of course beyond all these specific messages the stikky app is helping people interact through the shared context of a specific object.
USES - Logo is to be used on the smart phone app, on websites, on business cards, promotional merchandise, and also integrated at times with small sticky 2D barcodes. [AS A RESULT – PLEASE INCLUDE YOUR PROPOSAL FOR WHAT THE SMART PHONE APP ICON WOULD LOOK LIKE AS WELL]
STRUCTURE - Will want a graphic AND brand name in the logo. The graphic should (ideally) be useable or recognizable on its own without the brand name [AND AS AN APP ICON]... so that it can be used with or without the brand name.
VARIATIONS - The brand is Stikky (who wouldn't want a sticky brand!) but it will often be used in conjunction with the slogan "Get Stikky" . We may also have sub-brands along the following lines: Stikky Business, Stikky People, Stikky Places etc. The logo should accommodate such variations, the same way the Virgin Brand is used.... Virgin "fill in the blank". [TO BE CLEAR I DON’T WANT TO SEE ANY MORE ENTRIES THAT HAVE “STIKKY” WITH “GET STIKKY” UNDERNEATH THEM. I DON’T WANT TO SEE THE WORD STIKKY TWICE. I WANT TO MAINLY SEE “STIKKY” AS THE BRAND BUT BE ABLE TO ADD THE WORDS “GET” IN FRONT OR “PLANCES” , “PEOPLE” ETC BEHIND THE WORD STIKKY SO AS TO MAKE VARIATIONS THAT READ “GET STIKKY” OR “STIKKY PEOPLE” ETC.]
WEBSITE: Will be http://www.getstikky.com
DESIGN IDEAS: Wide open. The concept is little virtual sticky notes, but not sure that provides much of a punch to the logo. Could be something totally abstract, or some sort of character, or something more graffiti oriented (think simplified Banksy etc). [IN LOOKING AT THE INITIAL ENTRIES I THINK WE CAN DEFINITELY RULE OUT STICK NOTES OR ANYTHING PHYSICALLY STICKY AS A VISUAL METAPHOR TO BE USED IN THE LOGO GRAPHIC].
EXAMPLES: Ideas can come from any one of a number of domains. 1) Web 2.0 - It could be a clean classic minimalist web 2.0 design like most other social networks already have (e.g. http://fontfeed.com/archives/the-lo…-web-20/); 2) Could be something playful from the world of Anime… but would still need to be monochrome and simple; 3) It could be something that is graffiti inspired as this as well needs to be recognizable, simple, repetitive and subversive just like graffiti. This could be a spray can effect or a stencil effect (just like Banksy). Unlike Banksy however this will have to be simpler than most of his stuff as it needs to work as a logo, be viewable at a distance and even small scale, and be easy to draw…. So we’re looking for something as iconic as something like a peace symbol (http://psychsurvivor2.files.wordpre…symbol.jpg) or the universal “anarchy” symbol (http://archer.gamebanana.com/img/ico/sprays/anarchy_6.png)….. So yes we’re being ambitious. As much as I don’t want to have something based on a letter, like the letter S, to the extent you can make the Stikky “S” as iconic as the A in the Anarchy symbol… then we might have a winner…
CONCEPTS: If the above are still not enough of an inspiration…. Remember to think in terms of people leaving and reading messages from objects and connecting through a central object or context… so some sort of graphic of people connected to and via an object would be great… but have no idea of how to do that …. But if anyone has inspiration great….
TARGET AUDIENCE: Should be something that appeals to young active smart phone users (i.e. anyone under 30), but not so radical that it will be unacceptable for advertisers in the future.
