GenZ - The elusive iGeneration accounts for one-third of the US population and has more spending power and influence than any other generation - impacting more than $200 Billion in spending in just a few short years. But their influence doesn’t stop there. Ninety-three percent of parents today say their children influence family and household purchases, meaning a significant portion of overall market spend is because of these youths.
This “post-internet” generation doesn’t want to just mass consume, they micro consume. Enabled through their mobile devices, they have an extreme connectivity to social platforms and care deeply about being creative, collaborative and projecting an image of success which they do through bringing new ideas and products to their networks. As a result, their own purchases are often inspired by peers, especially influencers.
As a way to capture these moments of daily inspiration, they often take screenshots, pictures or makes notes on their phones of the things they want and need. Without a central place to house this inspiration - this market is left to share and collaborate in a very selective, fragmented and inconsistent way, resulting in items they most want and desire often times being forgotten.
