We are going to be selling subscriptions to businesses who want to be more eco-conscious and save money on their electrical bill. By signing up with Solar Pathway, they are "virtually going solar", and their utility bill will be credited for energy that their panels generate. They generate savings over time and all their energy is green.
Our target demographics will be sustainability and facilities managers at chains of businesses that can make the decision for each branch or franchise to collectively switch to our plan.
We want to come across as a smart business-decision. We are an environmental company, but we don't want to portray a "hippie" vibe - just eco-conscious and very business-savvy.
One concept we have been experimenting with is the idea of our solar farm as a public space that is supported by the community. Images that come to mind are a "node" or "fulcrum" or "public square" or "home base", etc.
We've thought about a design where our logo is the traditional drawing of a sun with rays emanating from all sides, except each ray is an arrow pointed towards the center planet, implying community support of a central, mutually beneficial asset. I'd like to see someone try that, but we're not wedded to that design whatsoever.
Second, we'd like to see people experiment with the pathway concept. One person called us a "3000 mile extension cord" because we connect their house to panels in the desert. We are the path to solar power for people who don't own their own rooftops or don't live in a sunny area. A bridge, a portal, etc
These are just starts - products of our own brainstorming. We're excited to see ideas/concepts/themes that we haven't thought of and encourage people to get really creative.
