Our group is non-profit and academic in basis, dedicated to promote research collaborations and to exchange "know-how"s of the usage of next generation (massively parallel) DNA sequencers (abbreviated as NGS). Members of this group are mostly young scientists that actually have their hands on NGS machines, or the massive data generated by the sequencers.
These new generation of DNA sequencers, that digitalizes the sequences of genomes (the blueprint of life) written in DNA alphabets A, T, G and C, can decode the entire human genome in less than a week with less than $10,000 per genome. Compared to the international Human Genome Project, a 3-billion-dollar project started in 1990 and completed over a decade later in 2003, NGS are rapidly revolutionizing every aspects of molecular biology.
