JUNE 11 NOTE TO DESIGNERS: Please do not put "Ltd." in the logo.
JUNE 12 NOTE TO DESIGNERS: Feel free to abandon the target concept and the blue flame and come up with something completely different and out-of-the-box!!!
JUNE 15 NOTE TO DESIGNERS: We have extended the contest by a couple days. Would like to see some entries that convey other themes than a flame.
We are a small start up with big ambitions, led by entrepreneurs who built the most successful energy company in Canada over the past decade. We are young, brash trailblazers. Highly competent, with a proven ability to execute.
The word Petroleum is derived from the name Petrus, which comes from Petra, or rock. Petrus is also the name of a famous Bordeaux wine. We are open to ideas that convey a sense of success, excellence, prominence, strength, etc.
The company is being designed from the bottom up with many of the attributes that made our original venture a success, including a low cost structure, geographical focus, and alignment of interests between management and shareholders. We imitate where it makes sense and innovate where we see opportunity to improve on what others are doing.
The attached logo is something quick we came up with for our initial financing presentation. It shows a gas well symbol (which appear on industry maps showing well locations) in the cross hairs of a scope. We were trying to convey the idea of "rifle shot" (or targeted) acquisitions of gas production and reserves. Feel free to try some themes that play off that.
Consider playing with a blue flame as opposed to an oil drop, since our focus is natural gas
Don't need to include the "Ltd." in the logo
Don't include a tag line in the logo
Try a classic look for the font and symbol perhaps. The word Petrus is from the old greek Petra, meaning rock. The symbol can also be a drilling rig, perhaps. Could see how that looks.
