My clients are in high tech/internet (younger, male ) as well as
nonprofit (older, female), so I need to appeal to
both. I am female, in my mid/late forties so want to suggest
I love my company name (AdvanceThis). To me, "advance" means to
advance or move forward;
and "this" refers to a strategy, program, or campaign I am helping a
team or leader "advance". I would like the logo to subtly suggest
movement (advancing/moving forward), fluidity, as well as
strength/stability/groundedness. I think would like a logo where the
words "advance" and "this" are treated differently, but equal: they
are interdependent and in my business, there would be no "advance"
without the "this".
I like orange/grey (without being too much like
halloween, or the San Francisco Giants). It's also easy to make the
logo look like AmericanAirlines, which I don't like. Too much black
feels harsh. Examples of logos I like are "Storyhouse creative"
(http://storyhousecreative.com/); "NG design"
(http://ngdesignassociates.com/); and "Taproot foundation"
I will mostly be using my logo in the footer on emails, LinkedIn,
invoices, business card, and tend to like logos that are simpler in
nature (not busy). I do not yet have a website, but hope to create
one at some point. I do own the domain http://www.advancethis.com.
