We want something that is different but not so out there that it puts off potential clients. We like young and fresh. More modern than "classic" in design.
We are in Texas and live in the capital city (Austin) so I would suggest trying to pull in some images of Austin (the internet is full of them) and making them abstract - or something like that. Everyone always does stars for Texas and Austin so we kind of want to steer away from that if possible - however, if there is an awesome star idea/design or one that incorporates stars, we certainly will not shy away from it.
Austin is an incredibly techy city that is very internet savvy and embraces hi-tech. Lots of hi-tech/internet companies here....keep that in mind when designing. The trouble is that the logo needs to also convey the core idea/traits that everyone wants in their lawyers: skill, ability, trustworthiness, stability, wisdom. Also, we want it to convey compassion to the clients who are coming to us when they are in a very vulnerable place.
Our target clients run the gamut from mid-20's to early 60's. Both men and women. Most have children. Our clients tend to be evenly split between college educated and not. Also, most of our client's tend to be women.
We will need vector graphic files (illustrator or corel draw) so we can use them later and internet ready graphics.
