I'm going to risk giving you too much information here - but hopefully it gives you a good picture of what we're hoping for.
Please review our existing logo - you can see it in the context of our site at http://growthclick.com or see the attached files. Please also check out http://growthclick.com/preview1/ (the 2 minute video) to get an idea of what and how we're talking to our customers (who are creative entrepreneurs looking to grow faster).
We're looking for a redesign that will give us a crisper, more modern, sleeker logo. The old logo is based on Trebuchet, and we want to move away from that font. For a lot of our new presentations we're using Myriad Pro. We'd like something in that style - if there's a web font then that would be cool, and so far we've found Droid Sans to be the closest match. The reason we like Myriad Pro? It seems sleek, modern, and intelligent... and with all of the Apple advertising for iPhones and everything using Myriad Pro, it seems to be associated with innovation. (If you have another modern font style that you think would be better then please try that).
EMBLEM - Ideas, Inspiration, Sales, Growth
The old logo has a green emblem of a sales funnel at the end. Our business has changed a bit so it's more about Innovation and ideas, and how entrepreneurs can monetize their ideas with the right sales and marketing. The sales funnel image (upside down trapezoid) is one way to communicate sales and marketing, but another way might be with a light bulb design and/or maybe a light bulb with an arrow going up or something. Try going to istockphoto.com and searching for "light bulb" or "inspiration" - i.e. http://www.istockphoto.com/search/t…ic#8183e49. We're helping companies to grow, so another option would be to incorporate a leaf as an emblem - see the section on "Sprout" at http://www.logolounge.com/article.asp?
Maybe our logo could include some kind of emblem after or before the GrowthClick name. Part of our mission is to inspire, advise, and lead entrepreneurs to achieve greater growth with their ideas. If you have some creative way to visually communicate that then I'm open to possibilities.
We need this logo to work in our website (for which we don't have a lot of vertical screen real estate), so you'll notice that the existing logo is wide but not that high. That's probably a good thing if the logo is more of a rectangle than a square so that we can use it in web headers etc. I won't make this a hard requirement though - if you've got a cool concept with an emblem on top and wordmark below it then I'd love to see it. We don't require a tagline at this time but would like to have the option of adding one down the road.
I mentioned above that we definitely want blue - and that it would be nice to have at least one secondary colour of green, orange, or gray / dark gray / black. We're not married to the existing green. And we'd be open to a lighter shade of blue (i.e. #558ED5) but not so light that the logo seems weak. We want the logo to seem smart, strong, and trust worthy.
For web layout purposes and print we need a logo that can look good on a white or very light gray background.
I'm interested in seeing some creative alternatives to the current logo (maybe you can come up with a design that makes our current logo look ugly?), but it's also an option that we just get a tighter, cleaned up version of the existing logo (i.e. fix the font face, improve the colouring, make it more crisp, and professionalize it).
To be clear, GrowthClick is a single word - no space, and the C is capitalized. You can see how we used different colours for Growth and Click in the current logo. That could still be a good option, though isn't a requirement.
To give you some ideas of the style, here are a few logos that we like:
Many of the tech startup logos (Socialize, ZipCar, listia, vayable) shown on http://99designs.com/designer-blog/…logo-tips/
http://freshbooks.com, http://mindsea.com, http://logofury.com/logo/benchvent.html
Hopefully that gives you a good starting point. I'll do my best to give you feedback through the process and excited to see what you can come up with.
