WikiObserver: Facilitating notification and collaboration in responding to emergencies and disasters around the World by live-steaming video of the emergency or disaster from your mobile device so first responders and neighbors in your area can respond immediately and appropriately.
Built on the iPhone and Android mobile platforms and the World Wide Web, WikiObserver uses the crowdsourcing to exponentially maximize the alert to an emergency or disaster and also the response to it from resource in the local community and around the world.
Observe, report, journal, and respond to our fellow humans in need.
The basic function of the apps will start on Google Maps with the location of the obsever. Then they will choose a category of an emergency or disaster to report and open the camera on their mobile device to stream video from the scene to the website and other mobile devices with the app. After the live stream is submitted, they will then journal their report in a Who, What, When, How, Why story. While everyone monitoring the site or apps will receive the reports, they can also share a link to the reports to anyone and on facebook and twitter.
Our home page will only be a map of the world illustrating with lighted pins all the reports occuring at that moment time.
