Desired Color Scheme:
I love reds, yellows, blues, bright colors, but I'm open to all submissions.
I'd like the logo itself to use sweeping lines, maybe the shapes of sails and/or waves. I also love the excitement of sailboat racing in heavy wind, when the bows of the boats plow into the waves and throw lots of spray... designs inspired by these kinds
Accepted File Formats:
a vector file that I can use in multiple applications... web, stationery, cards, etc.
I specialize in the photography of boats on the water--especially racing sailboats, at this time, but I'd like to keep a broad perspective and be open to business branching out. So what I'm looking for is a graphic logo (with text for the business name) that draws from the fluid lines and shapes of water and boats. More on style and colors in the sections below.
I'd like the logo as a whole to include both a graphic icon of some sort, and also the business name, "Lyons Imaging"--maybe in all caps. Then in smaller letters, the words "maritime photography".
My current logo, which is text only, is designed by me, and is pretty uninspired. You can see it on my website at lyonsimaging.com.
For further reference and clues to my taste...
I like the little sailboat logo at kingmanphotography.com, but don't want anything too similar to it.
I also like the text logo and colors used at ultimatesailing.com, but I do want a graphic as well as just text.
I love my friend Eric's logo, designed for him here at sitepoint: http://www.ericpattersonphoto.com, but I don't want to just play with the letters in my business name. Again, I need the business name there, but want a graphic as well. It could be as simple as some wavy lines or as elaborate as... well... whatever. I do prefer contemporary looks over very traditional ones.
Please no images of cameras or film or anything like that. I'm interested in the subjects of my photography, not the equipment used.
Here's a logo that's cool--but not enough color for my taste: http://www.seasee.it/
Here's a REALLY cool one-- amoryross.com. If the logo is so strongly nautical, I don't even need the word "maritime", really. Maybe I can just buy Amory's logo! Very cool. And used in different forms on his site. I'd love something like that.
Okay... please post with questions as you have them. I'll try checking back often.
