San Diego Mycological Society (sdmyco.org) is a nonprofit, educational organization based in Kumeyaay Territory in San Diego, CA dedicated to educating the public about all aspects of mycology (the study of fungi). We provide fungi-related lectures, workshops, forays, and dinners to our local community.

We would like our new logo (old attached) to be primarily image-based that could look good as solid black/white (monochromatic) with a color variant. We would also like an optional version with text. We could also have a version that does not include our full name but our shortened version instead (SDMYCO). We would like it to look clean and simple but convey a sense of both mushrooms and San Diego. One of our rough sketch idea (attached) was to have an ocean sunset (San Diego) and replace the sun with a mushroom spore print (mycology). We are open to other ideas as well. We'd love to see your creativity and break the mold! If you do decide to incorporate a spore print or gills into your design, we would love it if you used one of those attached in the "Spore Prints + Gills.zip" file, as these are images that were taken from local San Diego mushrooms. Feel free to manipulate them as you please to make it work with the prior ideas.
