The attached document shows some lettering I really like.
Also in the document is a yellow /orange rectangle that I can envision as a back drop. The stars are a bit too pronounced though against the more orange background. And intstead of stars, there could potentially be puppy paw prints. Second thought, that could get pretty corny quickly. i leave that up to your discretion.
On the right side of that document, the 12345 gives an idea around color scheme with the accent color. Again however, this is not absolutely mandatory. Use your best judgement and taste.
Lastly, and most importantly is the dog on the bottom right. I absolutely love the style of the drawing and the look on the dogs face is priceless. I could have potentially went with a cuter breed. But style of drawing, color, and expression of the dog are spot on.
I would like to have the dog incorporated somehow in the logo, even if he/she is just sitting beside the company name.
So the key elements are the style of lettering and the mascot. They directives on color scheme do not need to be adhered to. There is some flexability in terms of exact color choice as long as it fits with the idea listed above. (We currently have no branded material which dictates the color scheme of the logo). And lastly, is the puppy paw print. I can completely do without it unless you can come up with a clever or subtle way to incorporate it.
PLEASE NO FECES IN THE LOGO
