We have a specific concept and the winning designer will be the one who creates the cleanest and most presentable version.
For the logo, we want the words Steps Education written on two lines. The two lines should be left justified. Font should be a font written in pencil as a student would. Not cursive handwriting. On my website (http://www.stepsed.com) I am using Cabin Sketch font. That's a starting point, not a requirement.
When the words "Steps Education" are on two lines, some space is created in the upper right corner, to the right of the word 'Steps' and above the letters ATION. In that space, we would like the following objects to appear (in this order): a pencil case, a translating electronic dictionary, an iPad.
The three objects may overlap slightly, with the pencil case on top and the iPad to the back.
Because this is an iOS application project, we will need an icon. The icon should be those same three objects, plus the words "Steps Ed" written in the upper left-hand corner of the icon square ('Steps' above and 'Ed' below it, left justified).
Colors are up to you. In the logo and the icon, everything should be in color: company name and the three objects. The icon background can be white, black, blue or green (open to suggestion).
I hope this detail is appreciated for guidance, we really need a logo and we like what we have drawn on paper but I know a professional can do 1000% better. Happy drawing.
