We build and sell Drupal themes. Our core competence is Drupal theme development (we write code). On top of that we retail a small range of commercial themes.
Our target audience for this logo design are buyers of our commercial themes i.e. our retails customers.
Most of our customers are web site builders (professional Drupal web development shops), universities and non governmental organizations.
We're really looking for something clean, beautiful, fun, memorable and that reflects our Drupal connections.
I've uploaded our current logo - note the "drop" in the capital A - this is the infamous Drupal "drop". You can choose to includes a "drop" inspired image etc, we're really open to new ideas.
FINAL ROUND NOTES
Please read these notes carefully, they contain important information regarding the final round.
Note that I will be leaving detailed notes for each finalist also. Please feel free to ask many questions, I am here a lot and will try to answer ASAP.
Our name "Adaptivethemes" refers to the fact that our themes can be "adapted" to many different sites, for example the site builder can use color widgets to recolor most elements, fonts are easily changed using Google fonts, Typekit or many other external sources, layout can be configured and many, many other customizations are possible. In short I like to think they can shift shape and form, style and color, in essence - they can adapt.
# LETTER MARK
We have decided to settle on a new Letter Mark. Most of the chosen finalists submitted Letter Mark type designs, either a simple "a", "A" or in some cases our initials "AT".
The "letter-mark" should form the "symbol" or "icon" part of the overall logo, with our company name acting more like a supporting byline. While this is conceptually similar to our existing logo, we're really looking for something with a whole new look and feel, something that captures our essence.
The letter mark can be comprised of any of the following letters or combinations:
a) singular capital A.
b) our initials AT as separate letters
c) our initials as one letter-mark, where the AT are blended - examples #207, #270 and #317
I have uploaded some basic sketches to show what I mean by option "c", of course you do not have to follow these at all.
The uploaded example sketches are just very roughly done to give examples of what we mean by combining A and T into one form, nothing more.
In the file letter-mark-layouts.png there are three logo type layouts we need this to work in:
1) Letter-mark (left) with text (right), split into two lines, line one "Adaptive", line two "Themes"
2) Letter-mark (left) with text (right), one line as one word "Adaptivethemes"
3) Letter-mark (above) with text (below), split into two lines, line one "Adaptive", line two "Themes"
Clean, simple fonts are preferred, for example Proxima Nova A, Nexa or similar. Please feel free to choose whatever font you feel works best with your design, these are just general guidelines.
Use different weights or colors for each word part, e.g. bold for Adaptive and a lighter weight for "themes".
If you use more than one color in our company name please be sure this works at small sizes and does not wash out.
Our logo must work in a variety of sizes, for example as an Apple touch icon (from the very smallest around 56x56), to very large sizes. The website version will use Layout (2) and be quite small, with the logo no more than about 60px high (length does not matter so much, less than 320px long is best).
We are open here, still favoring blue, red, however green and even multiple colors are OK. We are very open to suggestion. The ideal is the letter-form will work in any color.
The design must work in black and white (black on white, and white on black) and monochrome.
