Values to communicate with the design:
The design should emphasize the values that headed to create our brand 'Gemma Divina' and its slogan ("Vivre un moment précieux..." means "Live a precious moment...").
First word 'Gemma' means 'jewel' in latin, and also 'precious stones' in several languages (such as 'gems' in english or 'pierres gemmes' in french, ...) and is also a female first name is several (latin) countries.
'Divina' is also from a latin origin and simply means 'divine' in english, 'divin' in french, 'divina' in spanish or italian,... It expresses the uniqueness of the items we propose, a warmer approach to customers (different to the usual 'glass and security' jewelry feeling) which includes more services, more ways to personalise our jewels, more advices, more human...
In summary, 'Gemma Divina' name has a clear latine influence, with a certain idea of what is beautiful, luxury with a touch of dolce vita as well, as it is still possible to find and live in Italy today (yes, we are Italy lovers... How did you guess ? :)).
We suggest the use of symbols such as angels, or angel wings (or other devine symbol) and/or diamond (or other gem related symbol).
These suggestions are just... suggestions... feel free to propose your creative ideas !
However, we would appreciate something artistic, clean (minimum of additional elements), simple.
White or Beige (background)
Red Purple or Purple Red or Burgundy (brand writing)
Grey (slogan writing)
... but PLEASE feel free to propose your ideas !
Aditional requirement: The logo should still look fine with one color over a blank background (printable logo with just one color on a jewel box for example).
Open to any proposal, but should be close to "luxury codes".
We suggest the use of white space (blank space) between letters fro the brand name.
In addition to the selected logos ideas proposed by 99designs, here are 3 more that we found on the net, with few comments:
We like the spaces between the letters that express luxury by itself, even if we deslike the font itself.
We like the simplicity while symbols are still visible. We do not like so much the proportion of the design compare to the name.
We like the colorfull design with the idea of gems for the feathers, while alltogether the design stays quite still simple.
Again, these examples are just… examples… and we are open to your creative suggestions !
Feedback to designers:
We will share our comments on each design and updates on a daily basis, and will answer to messages one or two times per days.
Special offer to the best designer (unless he or she would decline this proposal):
The winner will get a special page on our new website, announcing the winner of our logo, with his name, contact information and links to his website, 99design page, art book, (3 links max)…
In this page we will shortly describe our work relation during this 99designs experience and will give a specific recommendation.
* * * * * *
Updated brief following all the nice designs you already submitted !
* Several proposals we get have big designs over the brand name.
We would like to emphasise that the brand is the most important and should be easily read.
In our opinion, a big design on top (worse if really too sophisticated) will distract from the brand reading (this is by the way a key feature of luxury brands / logo, simplicity and no too-catchy-big design).
As said, we are indeed seeking for a catchy design with the brand name (in order to be recognised, memorised), BUT it should not take all the place for the eyes and should not distract from the brand name (which is the most important).
* Black or very dark background:
Even if we have difficulties to check that and be 100% sure, so far we could see how to adjust a logo with black or dark backgroung on our beige building, therefore if you make a proposal on such background, please make sur you also propose it on a clear background (withe, blank or beige background).
* Please do not break the brand name in to parts or change of font within the brand name, we wish to keep:
"GEMMA DIVINA" and not:
or GEMMA divina
The reason is any break here does not facilitate the reading of the brand and therefore does not facilitate the memorisation of it (most likely people will memorise Gemma "something", at best !...)
