+++UPDATED BRIEF+++ Hello finalists! Thank you again for participating in my design contest! Before jumping into the final round, I want to give you a heads up on changes to the brief. First, I have changed the website name to Lil’ Porteños. Thanks to your designs I realized that the original name was too long and focused too much on the city. What I really want to focus the logo design on is sharing fun activities for young children and parents (especially moms), and building community among expat families. For the logo, I am now looking for two things: A simple, modern, memorable yet playful icon that I can use on the top right corner of the website homepage and Instagram profile pic. It needs to work well in one single color, but I’d love a colorful option as well. This could be a monogram (lpñ) or a pictograph. Site Goal: The goal of this site is to make it easier for foreign parents to find organized activities for their babies and young children ages 0-6. Right now it takes a lot of hunting on Facebook and Instagram and asking around to find activities. I want parents to be able to go to one website, quickly search their interests and explore a wide variety of recommended playgroups and classes. With that in mind, the site tagline will be “Never miss a playdate.” The site will also feature a blog that shares helpful information for parents who are new to the city and not well-versed in how everything works / are just starting out building their local connections. A bit more about my target audience... The mothers I’m targeting are expats from all over the world now living in Buenos Aires. In general, they are well-educated and middle to upper-middle class, yet humble. They regularly read the latest parenting books and articles, and are well-versed in popular baby/child gear. They spend a lot of energy looking for fun and educational activities and events to keep their children busy and learning, and are very concerned with doing what’s best for their children. They are always tired from splitting their time between work and childcare responsibilities, so sharp, modern yet fun design will grab and hold their attention best. They love living in a big city that is full of opportunity, but long for nature. The name Lil’ Porteños combines an English word with the name for Buenos Aires natives to illustrate the bi-cultural identities of the families the site targets. Please no cityscapes! I want to move away from the city guide idea, and focus more on uncovering and sharing fun activities, initiating social interaction btw young kids, and building community among expat families, especially moms. I have been playing with the idea of fantasizing a single Buenos Aires monument, like depicting the Casa Rosada as a castle, the obelisk as a rocketship or the floralis shooting confetti into the sky. But I’m imagining that those would be too much for a simple pictograph...? A couple other design ideas I’ve been playing with… personalizing the party popper emoji in some way… or doing something fun with the typical link share icon most apps / websites use. Brittany ++++++ ++++ ++ + Buenos Aires Family Guide is a platform that makes it easier to find family-focused activities in Argentina's capital city. The site helps English-speaking parents find all types of fun activities for their babies and children ages 0-6, such as free play groups, art workshops and music classes. It also features activities and services for parents, such as parenting workshops, birthing classes and healthy food delivery companies. The Name: I am uncertain whether the logo should say Buenos Aires Family Guide or BA Family Guide. I am open to suggestions! Target Audience: English-speaking parents living in Buenos Aires, Argentina. This includes people from all over the world, especially USA, Britain, Australia, Canada, Brazil, as well as English-speaking Argentines. The site will primarily serve mothers with young children, so a feminine touch is welcome, but I would like it to appeal to hands-on fathers as well. The logo should be playful and youthful, while instilling confidence in the brand. No images of people please, as I'd like it to appeal to a diverse range of cultures, races and family structures. I also want to make sure the imagery doesn't suggest that the site only curates activities for babies. The majority of the activities for babies and toddlers featured on the site focus on helping children learn by freely exploring toys, music, art and body movement, while kids will find things like acting classes and music schools. I selected my favorite colors, but I'm open to all other ideas!
