Our goal is to create a brand mark and logo for our new brand ‘Soccer Loco’. The brand is “Loco” which is also Spanish for crazy. Our definition of ‘Loco’ in reference to sports and soccer specifically, means the passion, love for the game and fanaticism shown by players and fans of the game.
The logo should be a symbol or brand mark with company name typeset alongside. It we be used in all sorts of mediums including signage, brochures, website, promotional items, etc. Will need both a square and horizontal version.
Soccer retailer who sells soccer footwear, apparel, equipment and fan gear. We operate 4 retail stores, along with an online web store.
Edgy & different. Push the boundries. We want to be the one that “stands out in the crowd”. This brand mark needs to be cool enough to be used on apparel that will be worn by 14-25 year olds.
Our target audience is competitive soccer players and die hard soccer fans. The word “loco” is Spanish for crazy, meaning over the top passion for the game of soccer (almost, but not quite to the point of hooliganism). Soccer is on these people’s mind and in their heart all day, every day. Basically soccer is life.
What we are looking for in the logo:
• Modern: clean & professional
• Edgy: something different
• Abstract: the initial concept of the logo might not be initially apparent (see example logos we like)
• Use of negative space (See example logos we like)
• Something that is easy to use in all design spaces; square and horizontal versions
What we DON’T want in the logo:
• Soccer ball clip art or any other over used, plain soccer symbols
Logos we like:
Love the use of hte negative space to bring in the "J". The logo is simple and clean, yet has more to it when you take a closer look.
We actually know the owner of this company who filled us in on everything. If you look closely at the negative space of the logo you will see what looks like the two fingers touching. We love the use of negative space and how there is seemingly another meaning to the logo behind what you first see.
Same thing here. At first you just see the curtains, but after looking closer you see the vase in the negative space.
Like the abstract shapes forming both "P" and "F"
Absolutely love the use of negative space here. Logogram that could be seen as a swan and a figure of woman as well.
We understand that portraying "loco" or "crazy" in a symbol is very difficult. We need your creativity to help us get this right. See attached "helpful images"
