I've gotten permission from the Zia Pueblo to use the Zia symbol as part of/inspiration for my logo. I love the simplicity of it and feel a connection to it as a life-long New Mexican.
"The Zia rayed Sun symbol has four arms each of which has four parts. 'Four' is an auspicious or sacred number for the Zia: the four points of the compass, the four periods of each day, four seasons of the year, four stages of life, and the four sacred obligations for one's physical, mental, spiritual and social health."
I'm open to any interpretation, but I think I'd like to just use the outer portion of the symbol (see attached image).
I've also attached an image of a tile with southwest colors for inspiration, as well as a screenshot of the teal. I don't want to have too many colors (keep it simple!), just something from that sample. the background of my website is terra cotta (#D77D56) with a stucco texture, so it will have to work well with that as well. A horizontal layout would work best for my application, and I'd like it to be simple enough to print well in black and white.
Thanks! Looking forward to seeing what you come up with!
