Spellbound Story Lab is a company that specializes in the creation of well told nonfictional stories (documentaries) using different types of media (film, mostly, but also audio, text and photography). This is how we like to describe ourselves: In today’s world of assembly line fast-food videos and empty-calorie podcasts, we prefer well told stories… those made with hammer and chisel, hand crafted, unique. Storytellers who agonize over a word, an image, a subtle sound: passionate, patient, meticulous. Our goal is to push the boundaries of the craft, mastering its ins and outs, exploring its crooks and crannies. We create, we mentor, we consult. We explore the space where art, documentary and technology converge. Our target audience is made up of media savvy 25 and 45 years olds. The type of people who enjoy long form journalism, listen to podcasts, read The New Yorker, are okay with stories that are longer than just a few minutes (or paragraphs)long and consume most of their media through the internet.
The company has three components:
Spellbound’s Twice Upon a Time... produces cool, innovative nonfiction content - to be showcased on a variety of platforms (website, podcast, app). It also produces feature length docs. This is a non-profit initiative. We do this because we love nonfiction storytelling.
Spellbound’s Creative Lab - a creative agency/content creation company. Through its creative agency, Spellbound offers corporate clients the talent and proven expertise of a pool of storytellers.
Spellbound’s Story Studio - the consulting / educational side of the business (clients include other filmmakers and companies in need of fostering media/storytelling skills among their employees).
We provide consulting and educational services for film festivals, corporate training and workshops for individuals aspiring to learn the trade.
