Cachuma Lake Recreation Area in Santa Barbara County is hosting the first annual disc golf tournament. We are looking for a logo that can be used on t-shirts, social media, print and custom disc golf discs.
1st Annual Cachuma Classic is the name of the tourney.
Disc golf is a growing sport played primarily by men 18 to 50. There is and undertone of counter culture that is cherished by many players. Its and inexpensive sport played in a natural setting as opposed to ball golf. Innovadiscs.com is a the industry leader and their website provides some insight into the game and its players. Their page https://www.innovadiscs.com/event-s…-programs/ shows some disc art that may be helpful.
The disc golf course where the tournament will be played is situated in the mountains above Santa Barbara CA at Cachuma Lake. Imagery for Cachuma Lake includes mountains, lake, trout, eagles, squirrels, woodpeckers, boats and State Route 154. Disc golf imagery that can be incorporated includes flying discs and the basket, or target. The Cachuma Lake Disc Golf Course itself has a logo that is attached. A logo concept with an eagle, basket mountains and lake has some momentum but the Innova link, imagery suggestions and course logo should simply be considered context for a unique design.
Also for context, some jargon used by disc golfers includes "drive"=a hard throw, "stable" or "under stable"=how a disc is designed to fly, "hyzer" or "anhyzer"=an arching, curving throw, "park"=the result of a throw that lands right next to the target for an easy putt, "Ace"=throwing the disc in the basket on one throw. Again, these are simply for context and understanding of sport.
The goal for the logo is to develop an image for the tournament and the course that is recognizable and memorable, bringing players to play the great course and tournament for years to come.
