I need a logo for a new design company which I will be starting in the future. Everything about the company will be centred around the logo, as this is the starting point.
I want a creative logo, and NO web 2.0 style logo's. Something which looks good in Print and on the Web.
I'd like to see some entries using ideas of things connection, and working togther, spanners, construction imagery etc. Also with some fonts like the ones I mention in the re-edited brief.
Function
Tagline:
*OPTIONAL* Creative Solutions
Desired Color Scheme:
Make something which you can easily change colours of, Something different.
Desired Style:
Bold, Striking, Memorable, New
Accepted File Formats:
Vector Formats (.eps, .pdf or .ai); Layered Formats (.psd or .tiff)
Â
The name of the Company will be "Function"
The idea is that we focus on building working (functional) websites that run smoothly, as well as being as creative as possible. So the mix of good design and good functionality, I'd like this to come across in the logo.
I was thinking something mechanics related, machinery, cogs, that sort of thing. But don't overdo it; just subtle hints work best in my opinion. Don't think this is a requirement! It's not, I’m not looking for what I think might work, I’m looking for what you think might work.
I would love to show you some logo's which I find nice, but to be fair there are so many... All very different looking logo's - So I'd rather just leave this open to you. I will leave feedback very often, so you can get an idea of my likes & dislikes as the contest progresses.

Quick run down of what I am after.
Â
> Creative (This means simple, with something a little special) *in my head anyway.
> Bold
> Looks good in Color & Black & White
> Great font(s)
> Great shape/flow
Â
What I don't want
Â
> Web 2.0 reflections etc - (Unless used cleverly, and these effects should not be the main focus of the logo)
> Overly complicated logos.
Â
You can use a tagline if you think your design needs it, but this is optional. Please use the tagline (very short one) "Creative solutions"
As for colors, it’s a tough one. I want something different. Try to stay clear of blue, too many blue logos’ I think. But just go with whatever seems best. I’m usually a fan of logos with dark text, even black. With a nice color graphic to add something special.
I'm trying to be as specific as I can without limiting this too much, so best thing to do is check my feedback as we go.

Also I'd like to be able to contact you in the future for more logo's as the company grows, so please bear this in mind, it’s not a requirement but once the winner is announced I'll be asking you where you stand on this.

Any questions Large/Small please do ask PM or here would be fine.
Thanks, I look forward to your ideas.

NOTICE TO ALL ENTRANTS*

I'm loving the entries that are coming in. But I think I'd like to see something other than the cog, Unless you can do something with it that you think works well enough. But I know I mentioned using a cog, but there's got to be a lot of other machinery related shapes/graphics out there.
Â
Try to think along the lines maybe of things connecting, chains linking, pistons, engines, ropes, cranes, construction anything along these lines, I think I've decided I want something that looks quite industrial almost.

FONTS *
Â
While I like a lot of the fonts people have been using, I'd like to see something other than the clean curvey Sans Serif fonts that most people are using. Although they do work very nice I would like people to try with other style fonts. Below are some inspirations of different style fonts I would like to see people try. But if you still want to use a clean Sans Serif font then please do, but I'd like to see some people trying similar fonts to these:
