The majority of all rowing coaches only teach what the silhouette of a rower should look like or tell you to pull hard. Essentially pulling moves which are only partly effective.
This is different from the way I train athletes. I teach them to use their body to it’s most mechanically efficient movements.
It’s one of the most valuable assets to feel you’re doing the right thing. There’s no point in just looking pretty.
Rowers need to be technically competent (feeling what they are doing and how it affects the boat), physically and mentally conditioned to the highest level. Relying on just one or two of these factors is not enough.
I can push all of the aspects at the same time.
Over the last 8 years i’ve been mentoring and guiding athletes to get the absolute best of themselves. Helping them understand what they are capable in both a mental and physical capacity, pushing both of these limits to breaking point at times. I have helped my athletes build an ethos, beliefs and standards they’ve created. I help facilitate the changes they want. It has been an invaluable experience which I believe can be applied to many disciplines.
The rate at which I’m able to bring willing athletes up to speed is exceptionally faster than learning in a group environment. I give them skills and processes that they can retain.
I train a huge array of athletes from totally novices to high performance athletes aiming and achieving on the international stage.

Having spent an unhealthy amount of time fixing myself or recovering from illness I had to think for myself a lot. Sometimes getting very bad information from what I thought where trusted resources. Everything I help my athletes with I can back up with proof. There are no quick fixes, the trick is a set structured program to get back to full strength.
I found out that there is more help out there that what you think you’ve only got access to. Our general assumption to fix a bad back is to go and see a physio straight away or get an injection. Lots of things can be fixed through better education on the athletes side.
I have collated a huge amount of knowledge on over training, back rehabilition, rib injuries and joint injuries over the last 20 years as an athlete experiencing them and as a coach helping people come back.
