Elegant Sudoku game app design

We're looking for a beautiful Sudoku game design to allow our app users to have a completely new experience while playing.

We want an elegant, attractive design for the Sudoku mobile app. We already have a sample desktop app available here https://ksokolovic.github.io/k-sudoku/ that draws inspiration from the app provided. However, we want original design with the new version of the mobile app we are planning to release. We would prefer at least two themes provided: dark and light.

Upon the app launch, the user is presented with the main screen where they can choose to start a new game by selecting the desired level of difficulty. Once the Sudoku board is generated, user is presented with the second screen which is an actual game screen. The game screen shows the timer at the top, with the possibility to pause the game. The central section of the screen displays the Sudoku 9x9 grid. The bottom portion of the screen displays the game controls - numbers to choose, pencil and edit mode, delete and undo. Note that Sudoku grid has two basic modes: pencil mode and edit mode. While in pencil mode, the user can enter numbers that are displayed in the corresponding cell as smaller notes (ie. possible solutions for a particular cell). Please avoid replicating and/or duplicating existing solution. We are looking at you, the creative genius, for the innovative concept for this gameplay.
