Looking forward to working with you and answering any questions that can help you come with the winning design. This is an exciting project and the winner project will get to see the design implemented in a real app in a matter of months.
To ease the initial understanding of the app and how it’s intended to work I provided the Flow-4.pdf. Few points about this :
It is very verbose in its current form, but allows understanding the exact steps a user might need to go through for achieving the result. Use this as a guide to understand what needs achieved.
This level of detail can and should be reduced to as few screens as possible while providing a good UX. As an example, look at the Add Receipt functionality (see Flow-4.pdf and provided screen recording), taking receipt photo, deleting this, and showing details for the receipt is now combined in 1 screen.
This flow should not be considered as established and fixed, and should not limit in coming up with creative ways to achieve the same result. E.g. I’m not particularly happy with the Main Page that shows the status of the process and provides access to core pieces of the app.
Main consideration points for Main Page are:
- Receipts can only be added once the trip details are complete.
- User can add new receipts during the trip at any time.
- The refund process cannot be completed unless verification is complete ( Add details). The user can do this at any time.
- User can change/update trip related details up until he point when he submits the get refund request so the design should easily allow that.
- Process tax free forms is intended to just request the form generation which will become available as a PDF form.
- Get refund can even be a button somewhere rather than another step in this flow.
Chat functionality and screens can be excluded from this contest, I’m happy to focus on that at a later stage potentially with the winning designer.
Process Tax free forms will use email delivery only so no need to look at entering physical location address.
Intent and deliverables of the contest:
As specified in the initial brief the purpose of this contest is to choose a winner who can creatively come up with:
Simple/Clean/Minimal colour scheme that has high visual impact and that will render the app a modern look and feel.
Improved UI/UX design of the app’s main functionality ( and a similar process flow or visualization of how these link together as provided in the flow pdf document ) :
1. The Main Page:
While this should be looking beautiful this is just half of the job. Keeping the end user in mind while designing the UX here is core to what needs to be achieved. Happy to see this section even broken apart, bring receipts list to main page, restructured or improve on existing steps as long as it achieves a logical flow, easy for the user to follow and understand what’s still needed for completing the refund process.
2. Receipts Page:
Should allow viewing the list of added receipts which can have different statuses: eg. new receipts will be in pending/awaiting verification, rejected receipts, successful receipts.
Should also have a receipt view, where the user can add 1 or more images of the receipt being claimed. As soon as a new receipt is added and has an image attached a receipt reviewing process will start which will result in one of the above statuses.
3. Trip Page:
This should allow the user to manage his trip details in a nice and user friendly way.
4. Refund Methods
Should allow adding new methods for receiving the refund and managing these .e.g. Make default refund method, remove, add, update details. Currently planning to support Bank account, Card, and email based refunds like AliPay, Paypal.
Card refund method uses card scanning functionality which is already implemented. That will read most of the card details and auto-populate required fields. User should also be presented with an option to manually enter in case card detection fails.
5. Account Page:
User should be able to update manage here his account information as well as get quick visual cues about what’s still required/pending .
