We are an apologetics organization that is committed to explaining and defending the Catholic faith. Our audience enjoys our popular radio show, website and forums, magazine, books, CDs, and videos, through which we share the faith across the country and the world.

The four gospel accounts are vital for any Christian understanding of who Jesus is and what shapes the Catholic faith – but are they reliable sources of actual history? In this one hour DVD presentation, Jimmy Akin shows you how the gospels are an accurate account of history and uses non-Christian historical sources to prove that. Concept Idea #1: Use art depicting the four gospel writers – Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. Have the title of the DVD, “Why You Can Trust the Gospels,” be the focal point of the cover. Also, include the speaker’s name, Jimmy Akin, on the front cover. Evoking history and location could be a nice touch as well. You could incorporate images of ancient cities from that time like Capernaum, Nazareth, and Galilee. The talk also mentions many first century historians such as Suetonius, Tacitus, and Pliny the Elder -- so incorporating them would also be a welcome addition. Concept Idea #2: Have the title, “Why You Can Trust the Gospels,” be the main focal point of the cover. Use a nice, clean font and make the title stand out using typography. Incorporate images of the bible and writing throughout to accent the title. Include the speaker’s name, Jimmy Akin, on the front cover. Concept Idea #3: In Catholic theology, the four Gospel writers are often depicted as different animals – Matthew as the winged man, Mark as the winged lion, Luke as the winged ox, and John as the Eagle. Create a cover using these images and highlighting the title of the DVD, “Why You Can Trust the Gospels.” Also, include the speaker’s name, Jimmy Akin, on the front cover. We are open to any concept you may be inspired to create using the above imagery. Our brand maintains a respected status recognized by our audience. Even those who oppose our views appreciate our respectful approach to dialogue and our defense of the faith. The DVD cover has a few requirements, and we have several ideas for possible creative directions: The title and the name of the speaker should both appear on the front cover. This should have a similar look and feel to our other DVD products.

This is a DVD product, so the dimensions are important. I have attached the template file for you to work with. Keep in mind what we want is a front cover. The spine and back cover will be created by you in a later phase of the process, once the front cover is finalized and locked down. We expect to go through a few rounds of revisions once a concept direction is selected. We look forward to seeing what you come up with!
