We would like an icon for a new iPhone/iPad app we are working on. The app is basically a mobile version of Microsoft Outlook for people where the default iOS email client is not an option, or who require access to Outlook-specific features which the default app does not support.
We would like an icon that is evocative of the standard Microsoft Outlook icon, but not a rip-off. We feel it's the choice of colors that most contribute to the "feel" of an Outlook icon, but that's just our take.
We have attached an example of the standard Outlook icon, and a quick-attempt at how an app icon may look.
The icon must be provided in both 57x57 and 512x512 versions. These can be optimized for each resolution, but should be essentially identical.
Icon should ideally contain no words.
Icon should follow the standard iOS icon convention of having rounded corners and a clearly defined border. E.g. no circular icons with a transparent backdrop.
The icon should ideally be designed pre-glossed. This is where the corner beveling and any shine/gloss are incorporated into the icon and not added by the iPhone. If you don't know what this means don't worry, just make it look how it would on the phone :)
Finally - please don't just stick some stockphoto art on an abstract or sunburst background. We could do that ourselves :)
