UPDATE: We have added an update to the bottom of the brief.
This is intended as a web application that can be resized to mobile. If you are unsure of the device please design as if for an Ipad. There are 5 pages that need to be designed.
Our application takes different excel files and creates reports based on a configuration. We're only concerned with the report presentation layer, and making it modern. All screens we need designed are currently functional and have been attached to the design brief. Alternatively, you can interact with it using these credentials:
username (email): firstname.lastname@example.org
We do not intend to keep the same styles and will replace the web application with this design. The login provided is merely to show off the capabilities the application must have.
A good example report is found by going to september 2015 in the calendar select widget.
What's important in each attached screen is that similar tables / charts and graphs are navigable within the app, and that we retain the capabilities of the application. We are open to different interpretations for navigation for the application.
Reports are broken down into buckets based on:
1 - Category -- a simple list to select from
2 - Time ... which can be either a month, quarter, or year to date
Tables and graphs must maintain existing functionality. That means an interface to search within a table, sorting mechanisms, rollovers on graphs should be given some thought, as well as other features you may think of for data display purposes.
---Existing website to reference---
---Style/theme ideas for the app design---
Open to colors. Prefer a lighter theme. Our logo contains our standard green/white but we're not married to it.
sleek style of dashboards that they display in their product
Like the chosen styles for their marketing page (though not specific to dashboards). Color scheme, font selection, layout etc.
Really like the modern feel of their dashboard if you've ever been inside (it's free to sign up).
Like the dashboard elements
Like the color schemes, transitions, and font choices
---Number of screens needed---
A user first is presented with a splash screen then logs into the dashboard.
Users choose reports based on a category... which there may be a list of 4-5 different words, and a time period which can be Year To Date, Quarters 1 through 4, or a specific month of any given year.
User then navigates through different "pages" of a report, which will contain:
- cards of summary information... on page 1 of the logged in example
- tables of summary information. These tables sometimes can be searched as well as sorted.
- graphs of summary information. They can be bar graphs, pie charts, or line graphs. Newer features will include multiple lines of comparison on bar graphs or line graphs so if you have specific ideas on more complex charts feel free to show them off.
--- Other Directives ---
We're open to other structuring of our dashboards. For example, if you have ideas for a design that shows graphs / tables on the same page and it looks good we are ok heading in that direction.
