Podcast artwork for a show about the science of fire
Hecha un vistazo al concurso de Podcast de iamwengy
Hi, I'm a professor of fire science and I'm starting a new podcast focused on connecting scientists researching fire phenomena (aka how to protect buildings, forests, not burn them down...though... maybe?...) with engineers, students, architects, firefighters and likewise. Fire science is complex, not accessible, not exciting for most. However, it is usually due to the formal scientific package rather than the contents. I want to extract the exciting part from the world top scientists, and share it with the rest.

Update1: Since I've realized my exact idea of what the character should be doing may be difficult to picture, and maybe not give the most interesting output, please take the freedom to create an artwork with a fiery character as the main object. It would be nice (but not necessary) that the character is involved in an activity or within an environment that is scienc'ish (or in some engineering surrounding, all types of civil engineering and architecture will be relevant). Psst: for hands of the model, I think the ragnaros from World of Warcraft had perfect fire demon hands, popped two of those in materials :) Update2: If I had to pick between a really well worked out character and a plain background, and a funky background with a base character, I would probably pick the first one. Though, it's meant for an artwork, so the whole piece must be nice :). Update 3: another idea is the the character could hold/read a book, that starts burning. I'm not really sure what would look good :) that's why i need a designer , though :) Update 4: I would like to make it clear that the character is very important to me, and I would not want one that is in stock. I care about it being designed, detailed. I'm ok with stock accessories, backgrounds etc., but I really care about the character design as the focal point of the artwork. --- I need a podcast artwork, 3000x3000 px @ 72 DPI to be used for Apple Podcasts and likewise. I would like the artwork to show a character - a chubby flame guy, doing something science'ish. The coolest pose I could think of would be him looking through a magnifying glass onto a sample of the material and accidentally igniting it (you know, fire -> radiation -> magnifying glass -> ignition :)). Like Beavis and Butthead did to ants (if anyone remembers that). But I'm very open to any other ideas on how to connect the fire-character with a science theme. Just don't use test tubes, we never use them. Unless for vodka shots, that's one exception, not useful for the podcast though. Underneath I would like to have a large bold Fire Science Show, in one or two lines. It should be still readable after a significant downscale. I care about the character being a focal point of the artwork, as I would like to use it as a logo/identification for the podcast on the website (don't have one yet if you wonder). Maybe put him on a t-shirt/cap, buy a blip hovering above Superbowl etc. The usual stuff people would like to do with a logo. The podcast project is a hobby thing and is noncommercial in its nature, but if we can work out a cool logo that could be used in fun ways, I'm willing to invest some in it. And if it works well, at some point I would like to build online courses around this. Oh, and if you draw a fire guy or something in this area, I would really appreciate if it was something more-less physics accurate (I'm a professor, I don't want to hear the same pun of "your fire is not a fire" till the end of my days). Fires change colour with height, get more narrow with height, there are large eddies that break from the fire and fly on their own etc. Most of the "fire brushes" people use with PS are a horrible representation of fire/smoke physics. For accurate representation look up into fireplace pictures, or large bonfires etc. Cheers Wojciech
The images are: 1. The chubby fire guy idea I've drawn. I like him, but he needs to be more annoyed or surprised by the fact he set up the material on fire while investigating it. I didn't mean him to have sunglasses... Yeah man, I need professional help! 2. A 'travelling fire guy' I drew for a fellow group. It's a horrible pun, they have developed a model they called like that, and I made them a logo. Kind of that chubby fire guy idea (not exactly what I want - this is not cute enough) 3. Once got a cover of a journal, and drawn these fires. Not a character, but still this is a way I draw fire. 4. That's me, no idea why I'm putting my face - it SHOULD NOT be an inspiration. Though, I guess it's cool that you know me. 5-6. Ragnaros from WoW was a pretty decent try on what a molten-Firelord should look like. The lil-one was also cute.
