thoma4s tuvo su nuevo podcast a través de un concurso de diseño:
Podcast artwork for a podcast for software craftpeople to share their toolboxes content
Hecha un vistazo al concurso de Podcast de thoma4s
The org is doing consulting work for startups and companies looking to scale their engineering team and stack. The "def tools" podcast is focusing on the work and life experience of engineering teams through the content of their "toolbox" (programming language, libraries, IDEs & editors, software in general, books and podcasts, methods). The goal is to show case the diversity of the people out there, their approaches and their take on the craft they are honing.
¿Cuál es tu visión?
Podcast artwork that conveys the person listening is getting an insight into software craftpeople work habits and tools to learn powerful tips and tricks of the craft. There will be 2 versions of the podcast : one in french, one in english but I would like to use the same design for the cover or have complimentary ones (thinking split or mirror design as if we were to put the two covers side by side they would complete or mirror each other). The podcast content will be about the tools but also the craftperson so I would expect to see a person or several with a representation of tools, languages, books, workspace, maybe a reference to code (but please no XML/HTML reference). But if there is a nice use of "tools" / "toolbox" maybe we don't need a person to show either. Surprise us. The podcast name will be "def tools" with a "def tools.fr" variant for the french one. It could be seen as an insight into a craftperson workshop, her or his world, a tour of their habits and skills. Fonts should be soft (no Times New Roman for example). I am not so much into the "bubble style" trend (such as https://dribbble.com/shots/15714384-Sustainability) that plagues the web these days. I like sobriety and sharpness but I find a play between space and shapes to suggest form to be quite nice (https://dribbble.com/shots/15672675-Hedgehog, https://dribbble.com/shots/14769891-Fire-Lion-Logo-for-Sale). See attachments for some covers I like It's not about the hose, it's more about the tools and the craftperson. Update: "craft" and "craftperson" here refer to software craftmanship (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Software_craftsmanship). So the podcast is very much about software engineering, albeit with a not so industrial approach. Update 2: A soft monospace font might help point towards software and code (inconsolata, source code pro), but hard monospace font ('courier') might be too harsh and funky ones (syne mono, nova mono) are definetly not a good bet.
