Kids Saving Oceans was started by my son, Miles, last year when he was 6. He was watching Shark Week and didn't like how we treat our oceans and marine life. Because of that, he started Kids Saving Oceans. He sells shirts, hats, and stickers from recycled plastics and cotton scraps. He donates the proceeds to marine conservation non-profits like Surfrider and Mission Blue. Check him out at http://www.kidssavingoceans.com!

Miles is starting a new project called Not My Straw. The idea behind this campaign is for him to partner with restaurants and hotels and they will offer their patrons a reusable metal straw for $1 that they can keep with their beverage purchase. Kids Saving Oceans will donate the profits to Keep America Beautiful and their local affiliates. So what we are looking for is a flyer or pamphlet or whatever makes the most sense advertising this campaign - something that Miles can leave with restaurants so they understand the program. It is called "Not My Straw" because the idea is that when someone buys a reusable straw they can keep from the restaurant, it's not their straw that will end up polluting our beaches, oceans, or other waterways. We don't really have any specific requirements - we do have some content that we need covered, yet - but in terms of design requirements, the only thing we'd request is that is bold and eye-catching while still explaining the logistics of the campaign.
In addition to designing the flyer/pamphlet/whatever - we do have some additional design work needed. There are two things we will need as additional projects: we are looking for something we can display with Kids Saving Oceans products in stores that explains about the company so folks understand the story; and, we will need coasters designed to go with the Not My Straw campaign that says something like "Where's the straw?" so restaurant guests understand very briefly why they don't have a straw and where the money goes to if they purchase a $1 reusable straw.
