The National Acoustic Laboratories (NAL) is a government-funded research institution. NAL conducts research and develops innovative technologies focused on helping those with hearing loss. We are all for our EXCELLENCE and INNOVATION. There are strong elements of both TRUST and CREATIVITY. Audience: world leaders in hearing health care, hearing technology experts, and clinics and clinicians. Our mission: Lead the world in hearing research and evidence-based innovation to improve hearing health and transform the lives of people with hearing difficulties. NAL’s research can be found in leading scientific journals, conferences, advice to the government and several NAL inventions are used worldwide. Our Strategy poster: Strategic Research Challenges. We have 5 defined challenges that form our research agenda going forward. WHAT WE WANT: Create A1 or A0 posters around the building. We want anyone looking at the image, as they walk past or glance past, to be reminded of what the challenges are. focus on the short forms of the challenges, MAKE IT POP! We want the posters to 'pop'. We have a strong heritage as a leader in hearing research globally, at the same time we are creating an innovation agenda to continue to be leaders and trendsetters in clinical practice and technology. Hence, the design highlights 'trustworthy' at the same time 'creative' to be engaging with our staff and represent us externally to our audience. Additional note: hearing health care is NOT just hearing aids. Please keep this in mind when selecting any images/photos. Hence, NAL will not adopt pictures with hearing aids or people wearing hearing aids as the centrepiece in a poster. Our Strategic Research Challenges (we prefer to use the short forms as below on the poster): 1. Connected Hearing Health across the lifespan 2. AI Applications in Hearing Health 3. Hearing behaviours for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders 4. Targeted solutions for Speech in Noise 5. Prescriptions beyond the audiogram: NAL-NL3 The above are short versions of the challenges, there's no hierarchy or order, they are just numbered in this way to help us remember. Below are the long versions in full sentences: 1. How might we make hearing services using connected health technologies more accessible, acceptable and personalised across the lifespan? 2. How might we improve diagnosis, management and on-going support to people with hearing loss using big data to develop AI tools? 3. How might we change behaviours towards ear and hearing health awareness and healthcare uptake in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities? 4. How might we create targeted solutions for different groups of people with speech-in-noise listening difficulties? 5. How might we construct prescriptions (NL3) that target specific listening needs and/or rely on more than the audiogram? Reiterate from the above sections, our mission: Lead the world in hearing research and evidence-based innovation to improve hearing health and transform the lives of people with hearing difficulties.
I have uploaded our logo. Our old poster was circles arranged in a circle and 5 sections around in a circle. PLEASE BE DIFFERENT! Icons will be better than real human photos in this case unless you can make it work and impress me. Reiterate a point from above, please reconsider if you are going to use real-life images of people with hearing aids, hearing health is not about just hearing aids, this is not preferred.
