This design is the cover art for an upcoming single release by country artist, Doug McCormick. The song is titled "Earnhardt" and is a tribute to the late Nascar driver, Dale Earnhardt Sr. Initially, we wanted the focal point of the artwork to be the iconic #3. However, to steer clear from any potential copyright or trademark infringement, we've decided to move in a different direction.
There's still a way to incorporate the elements of Nascar and Dale Earnhardt Sr. into the design without infringing upon any trademarks. We'd like for the color scheme to be modeled after the Earnhardt Sr. #3 race car. Here's two different concepts we have in mind.
Black background to look like a painted race car. We envision the metal race car background roughed up a bit... paint scraped, metal dented, race car tire marks. All of these are texture elements. The artist name "Doug McCormick" centered, & the single name, "Earnhardt" beneath the artist name. Feel free to take creative liberty in finding what works best with the name placement. However, the Doug McCormick logo/name treatment should be used. Maybe a good idea with the "Earnhardt" name treatment would be if it was blurred a bit to imply, a race car speeding by. We're envisioning the artist name, "Doug McCormick" in white and "Earnhardt" in red to comply with the Earnhardt color scheme.
Black and white photo with faded Nascar elements in the background... Checkered Flag, Race track, cars, etc. NOTE: The song mentions Daytona Raceway. See the attached concept 2 idea. Once again, the Artist name and single name should be centered.
