This year I'm releasing a new 5-song EP called 'Come With Me Tonight'. I'll be touring the world promoting the music and would like an attractive and engaging poster to advertise my shows. My music is quite organic and natural and I mostly perform solo, just singing with an acoustic guitar. I like designs to reflect that style with a simple elegance and more vintage tones, nothing glossy or fluoro. The winning design will be used for both large scale print on the street as well as smaller scale digital on social media, so a design that's impactful and eye-catching in both formats is favourable.
I've included a selection of photos that you're welcome to incorporate as you see fit, and please feel free to crop/colour as you like. I've also included a logo for my name, but don't feel you need to use it if it doesn't work with your overall design. You'll also find attached some example posters I like and I think suit my style, so hopefully they give you a good indication of what I'm look for and some creative guidance.
If you'd like to listen to my new music you can stream it here:
Please feel free to be creative with the overall aesthetic and how the design elements are presented. For example, the format of the show dates doesn't need to be as supplied, you can change the format as you think would suit. Similarly elements like "On Sale Now" doesn't need to be right next to the web address, it could be stamped elsewhere on the poster.
Final designs will need to be supplied as:
- Flattened PDF;
- A2 + 3mm bleed on all sides (600mm H x 426mm W);
- 300 DPI;
- CMYK colour mode;
- plus an RGB jpeg version without bleed;
- I may also need a template version of the final design, in case we need to make any new poster versions with new tour dates once the competition is over.
The initial design phase will focus on a single set of tour details for my shows in Australia and New Zealand. Once a winner is selected I'll need 4 slight revisions of the poster text for the following purposes:
1. an A0 version for one show in Australia that requires its own specific poster not listing the rest of the tour dates;
2. a version that lists my European tour dates instead of Australia and New Zealand;
3. a version that lists my European tour dates but the text is in German;
4. a version that lists my Netherlands tour dates with the text in Dutch.
All specific details are supplied in the "Poster Elements v3.xlsx" Excel spreadsheet, which can be found in the "Poster Elements v3.xlsx.zip" zip archive.
For the purposes of the initial design round the details listed under Version 1 in the spreadsheet are accurate and should be used.
I've also provided a "Mock Poster" as both a JPEG and the Photoshop PSD file (A3 size at 150DPI to avoid 99designs file size limits). It's basically a quick design that shows all of the elements of Version 1. Please don't feel constrained by it in any way though, it's merely to give you an indication of how the design elements might fit together.
