Verbal Reasoning Cover Design – Request for Samples
About the Project
We are looking to create a new front cover design style for our forthcoming series Anthem Verbal Reasoning. We have included below a series description, as well as a list of the 5 titles planned for this series.
We envision that all 5 books will have the same cover design style and image; they will only differ slightly in the following respects:
o by the BOOK TITLE
o by the COLOURS chosen
o the GRAPHIC may also differ slightly, in size, style, placement etc.
We would like to request cover design samples featuring ONE (please pick one of your choice!) of the titles in the Verbal Reasoning series. We have supplied some additional specifications / design elements below.
About the Series
A comprehensive and practical guide to verbal reasoning, this series is an indispensable tool for pupils looking to clear their 11+ and 12+ verbal reasoning exams. Written by experienced tutors, the Anthem Learning Verbal Reasoning series offers comprehensive coverage of the types of problems featured in examinations, including clear, step-by-step instructions on how to solve them. With its useful tips on how to prepare for tests, as well as its wide range of practice materials, the Anthem Learning Verbal Reasoning series will be a vital resource both for beginners and experienced students.

Cover Design for the Series - General Description
As stated above, all 5 books will have the SAME cover design layout and graphic used; they’ll only slightly differ for each book by the TITLE, the COLOURS USED and perhaps by slight variations to the IMAGE.
We would like our series cover designs to be modelled somewhat on this workbook series; we have listed below some titles that you may preview on Amazon:
As you can observe from the above three samples, all books in this series have the same front cover design, with slight variations in colour etc – we would like to emulate this style.
We have also listed below the specific design elements that we want incorporated into our own series design; as well as some suggestions for graphics for illustrating the series cover design.
Cover Design – Specific Design Elements
As with the reference covers, the cover designs for the ANTHEM series should also be divided into two segments – the TOP segment (1/3 to 1/2 portion of the cover) and the BOTTOM segment (1/2 to 2/3 portion of the cover).
The TOP segment:
o Should feature the FULL TITLE of the series, using a similar clean, Sans Serif font as used on the reference sample covers linked above.
o Should also include a RED triangle tab on the top outer corner of the cover.
In the first book ‘Anthem How To Do 11+ and 12+ Verbal Reasoning: Technique and Practice’, the text inside the tab should read <Practice Questions with Answers>
In any of the latter 4 books (Short Revision 1 and 2, Test Papers 1 and 2), the text inside the tab should read <Multiple Choice>
The BOTTOM segment:
o All 5 books should feature the same graphic / illustration (see list of suggested graphics below).
o The 5 books should differ by COLOUR, and perhaps by minor variations to the GRAPHIC (observe the three reference covers linked above).
o The Anthem Logo should occupy the bottom right corner.
o The author’s names <John Connor and Pat Soper> should occupy the bottom left corner, and should NOT be too visible. (We do not want the author names visually over-emphasized on the cover.)
o All 5 books should include a tagline, left-aligned on the bottom segment. Please use the mock-up tagline <Essential preparation for verbal reasoning examinations>.
Suggested Graphics for the Series Cover Design
As stated above, please note that all 5 volumes will feature the same image, but in different colour schemes and perhaps with slight variations.
Here is a list of potential ‘graphics’ ideas that we feel are appropriate for the subject matter in this series:
o Puzzles / puzzle pieces
o Floating letters
o Building blocks with words on them
o Cogs / wheels
