Timber & Coal designs and sells men's goods with a focus on quality handmade products that utilize construction/production methods that date back to the turn of the 20th century. Wherever possible we try and pay homage to the processes and materials of the day. It is paramount that the look and feel of our packaging conveys this to the customer.

This project is to design the front panel for our upcoming "Bison Bar". It is a 10 ounce bar soap that is primarily made from the tallow of free ranging bison. The label will be made utilizing the letterpress method so it needs to be simple in design. The paper color will most likely be craft or grey so we are leaning towards black ink for the design with maybe a touch of red worked in sparingly. Since the design will be letter pressed onto the paper, some of the elements could be done blind(without ink) leaving just the debossed image on the paper. The overall feel we are going for with this product is one that invokes simple masculinity and nostalgia, as if the product were produced in the early 1900's. Lastly, the size of this label is 85mm x 85mm.
We have attached a file of our logo. The font is alegre sans. Please visit our Pinterest packaging board for examples of other works that we find inspiring and feel represent excellence in package design and invoke a similar feel to what we are trying to achieve.
