We need a bottle label for our coffee beverage concentrate called "Dr. Feelgood’s Miracle Coffee Elixer".
The design should be nostalgic reminiscent of the various Patent Medicines (Tonics, Elixirs, Tinctures) that were sold by traveling Medicine Shows in the 18th and 19th centuries. If you are not familiar with this please check out the following articles http://www.legendsofamerica.com/ah-…icine.html, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Medicine_show, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Patent_medicine. I would also recommend looking up google images for the following terms: “Medicine Show”, “Patent Medicine”. This should give you a good idea of the look and feel that we want.
Dr. Feelgood is a fictional doctor who travels the country selling miracle cures for "all that ails you". You may want to try incorporating a picture of him into the label as many of the old patent medicines did. But it is not strictly necessary.
We have not yet sourced a bottle for the product so we are open to your ideas on the shape and design of the bottle as well. you may also want experiment with hangtags for the bottle and or tax stamp style labels over the bottle cap.
There is currently no logo for the product so the title that you use for the label will also serve as a logotype for the product.
Here are the elements that the label must contain:
- Dr. Feelgood’s Miracle Coffee Elixer
- Original Formula
- Accept No Substitutes
- 66.97% less acid than traditional coffee
- Never Bitter. No Coffee Bite.
- 16 fl.oz. (473ml)
- Keep Refrigerated
- [Placeholder for stamped expiration date]
- Decocted from a secret blend of coffea arabica seeds using a unique brewing process known only to the celebrated doctor.
- Mix with 3 parts water. Makes 8 cups of coffee tonic.
- [Nutritional fact panel]
- Contains pure coffea arabica seeds & medicinal water
- [UPC Code]
- [QR Code]
- Bottled and distributed by: Dr. Feelgoods Medicine Show, Portsmouth, NH
Please note that the label will likely either wrap around the entire bottle or have a separate front and back panel. So not all of the elements need to appear on the front panel of the bottle.
In the first round we are looking for as many ideas as possible so be creative and try different variations. We will give extensive feedback to all entries.
We recommend that your submissions contain both a b/w version as well as a color version. This will be to your advantage because we can consider the design independent of color and we will not be biased against your design just because we don’t like your color choice.
Most importantly… Have fun with it!
***IMPORTANT: Please follow our general comments under the contest. We are using to give feedback to all designers about things that we like and don't like. It will prevent you from submitting unsuitable designs.
