We need a packaging solution to contain The T-Ring Cut Kit, which is a plastic rectangular box, that currently measures 9.7cm long by 7.4cm tall and 2 cm wide. For our initial design, due to time and demand, we are looking for one design to be rolled out to multiple markets and across varying retail outlets. (But as our brand grows, we will be looking for multiple styles of packaging for various different markets, a specific design for sports, one for kids, one for hipster retailers, one for military/first responders etc. This means multiple opportunities for the designer we select).
Because the T-Ring Cut Kit is a medical/first aid product, it is critical that the packaging conveys a safety and authority, while gaining the customer's trust. But we also have a big sense of humor and are not afraid to use it! We are looking for a simple, clean design, but do want the Finger Cut Kit to stand apart from the fairly standard look that you see on many of the wound care items in the first aid section of CVS, Target, etc. Our brand colors are black, red, white and blue/grey. We also use a light blue on our website (Fingercutkit.com) and FB page which could be incorporated. It can be kept very simple and clean with a few colors, or feel free to use as many as you like. However, we are not tied to these colors - you can vary from the above color pallet if you like.
This packaging is our first step in properly branding the concept of a retail kit. The T-Ring is already a medical product used in hospitals around the world, but the retail market is new for us. Please refer our website and/or FB page to get an understanding of what the T-RING does, but other than the T-Ring Logo we are open to design creativity.
I'VE ADDED A MOOD BOARD FOR A FEW THINGS I CAME ACROSS ON PINTEREST THAT PEEKED MY INTEREST: http://www.pinterest.com/bgreen2516
So, some facts about the T-Ring that are helpful:
*Instantly stops bleeding on any finger (the Primary message)
*One size fits all, adult or child
*Easy and safe slide on application
*Finger injuries are the most common injuries that occur at home, work, or at play
*Saves time and money (very often prevent a costly hospital visit)
*Treat finger wound in 3 easy steps (control bleeding, clean wound, close wound)
* First and only of it's kind
*Invented by an emergency room doctor
We would like a package designed to contain the T-RING Cut Kit. The package needs to be able to stand on its own on a shelf, and a version that can be hung. We would like the package to allow the T-RING to be visualized - as the T-RING is what sets the Finger Cut Kit apart from any other first aid product/kit for use on fingers. It also is unique and interesting looking; being able to visualize the T-RING will increase customer interest.
The options for the package would include:
1) a box that completely encases the cut kit, but has a cut-out window that allows you to see the T-RING within the Cut Kit (see pictures). We want the T-Ring to be in the middle of the window as to make it the feature , prompting the customer to wonder what it is.
The FRONT of the box:
Should be simple; one idea we have (but by all means run with your own ideas, we are open to anything) is across the top of the box, the T-Ring Logo top left and then "Finger Cut Kit" to the right of it; with "Emergency First Aid for Fingers" positioned somewhere else on the front. Now this is just an idea of the simplicity we'd like for the front. (We are debating if we should put "Instantly Stops Bleeding" on the front- balancing the idea to have a simple clean looking front with providing enough information to attract their attention). The T-Ring should be the feature; hopefully, prompting the customer to pick up the box and turn it over to the back for the bulk of the information. The challenge for the front is to keep it fairly simple, make it intriguing, and convey the message that the T-RING is a new, cool device that they need to have to treat future finger injuries. Creativity is welcome as we are not too attached to any one idea. In this case (box with window version), the kit cannot slide around inside the box, as the T-RING will need to remain centered in the cut-out window. So, the dimensions of the box need to either, a) be minimally larger than the actual plastic cut kit, (once in the box there is minimal space to prevent the kit from moving within the box), or b) a larger box can be used with a way to keep the Cut Kit centered. We don't necessarily want to limit the box size to one that is just larger than the kit (option a), as we are most interested in capturing the customer's attention with a cool/attractive design, while portraying the products value (will retail for approximately $14.95).
The front of the actual clear plastic cut kit will have the T-RING logo and the words "Finger Cut Kit" at the top of the kit (see picture of kit - although pictures currently have the logo and "Cut Kit" - we have changed this to "Finger Cut Kit"). We do not want the logo and phrase "Finger Cut Kit" to be redundant, so if used on the packaging box itself (likely option), then the window will need to be positioned so that the top 3.5 cm of the actual cut kit is covered by the box (this will cover the same graphics that appear on the top of the plastic kit).
2) a box that completely encases the kit without a cut-out window; would then have pictures/graphics of T-RING and text.
3) sleeve that wraps the kit - this would also have a central cutout.
See attached picture of Kit Sleeve - horizontal orientation shown.
This may be a clean, simple way to go. Information for back of kit can be minimized if needed. The sleeve would actually have to be wider than the mock up picture shows, likely extending all the way to where the edges start to round off about 5mm from each end when in the horizontal position. I would like to see a version of your design in this format.
4) Any other cool options
BACK of the Packaging:
The back of the packaging will have a heading at the top that states: "Treat Finger Cuts in 3 Easy Steps:"
Below this will be 3 illustrations (we're thinking circular). Each illustration will have a few bullet points related to it. The illustration can be positioned either horizontally across the packaging (related bullets directly underneath), or vertically along the left side (bullets to the right of each illustration). Each illustration will show one of the steps to using and removing the T-Ring: Please see the animated video on the website homepage, http://www.fingercutkit.com, to understand the below instructions.
1) Control (Bleeding)
Show a finger with a open cut (wound edges spread apart) that is obviously bleeding, with a T-Ring about to be applied.
Bullets for this illustration:
- Slide T-RING onto finger
- One size fits All (this bullet and first bullet can be combined if better for spacing/esthetics)
- Bleeding instantly stops!
2) Show same finger with a T-Ring positioned at the base of the finger (between the cut and where the finger joins the hand. The cut no longer bleeding (no blood anywhere on the finger), but the wound edges are still clearly apart. The finger should be positioned under water drops falling towards the finger to illustrate cleaning/washing the cut (but not contacting the finger yet so that it is clear all bleeding is stopped) .
- Wipe clean
- Rinse Thoroughly
- Dry with Gauze
3) Show same finger with T-Ring at the base of the finger, with the wound now closed (no separation of wound edges). Show white strips of narrow bandage over the cut (like in animated video).
- Close with Wound Strips
- REMOVE T-RING!
- Apply Bandage
Above or below each illustration will be the name of the step
1) Control (whether the word "Bleeding" is included depends on look/space)
The back will also need to have:
T-RING Device (1)
Cleansing Wipe (1)
Gauze Pads (2)
Wound Strips (3)
Shower Shields (2)
