I chose to communicate these themes using a coyote and roadrunner because they are local to the area of the winery in Baja and because bringing these famous rivals together to share wine was a fun way to illustrate breaking the ice. The image was influenced by traditional Mexican color and pattern, but I kept the overall design modern and clean.
I made a custom typeface to match the feeling created by the design. It is sophisticated yet not too serious, gives a touch of tradition to an otherwise modern design, and the Art Deco style recalls the lively night-life and culture of the roaring 20's. The wine name and brand are nicely rounded off with the small iconic logo--a detail from a hand-painted Mexican tile. It primarily functions as abstract decoration, but also reminds one of grapes, possibly wine glasses, and maybe even a Mexican church.")

With this image I focused on the connection to the natural world and the elements of air and water by creating a sort of yin-yang marriage between bird and fish. The bird and fish are in some ways opposite, but they are also kindred spirits, living immersed in the fluid mediums of air and water and flowing with them in the way we hope to replicate surfing. In this image they almost meld together into one creature and play some interesting little tricks with the eyes. The fish is actually fish style surfboard in disguise, and the bird may either be snuggling with her good fish friend, or flying to her favorite break with her favorite board under wing. I also snuck a little wave onto the bird’s back to get make an explicit though subtle connection to surfing into the image.")

Because nose-riding images are so ubiquitous, I thought it would be difficult to make a nose-riding type image that sticks in customers' minds as specific to the clients shop, and not just a generic image. That's why I decided that the logo needs something unique that will be identified with her brand. A bird (in this case seagull) is not the first marine animal that comes to mind but to me they represent freedom, and flowing in the fluid medium of air. We can identify with the bird because like us, the sea is a slightly foreign medium, but still a primordial homecoming to the flowing water from which all life is generated.")

First it is just an elegant visual design because the shape of the hand fits well inside the leaf.
Second, the image suggests a hand cleaning with a cloth/sponge. This is a very nice idea to think of using a leaf to clean with and parallels very well with eco-friendly cleaning using natural products to clean.
Third, the image implies human and nature working together in harmony which is of course the goal of the eco-friendly philosophy.")

The Logotype font is both clean and modern with a touch of vintage flair which marks the company as a fashion forward brand still rooted in the tradition of bespoke tailoring. The overall feel combines the softness inherent in thread and fabric, with a refined manly edge.")

I'm a lifelong artist, creator, tinkerer, woodworker, traveler, and teacher, and I am getting into freelance design as a means of nomadic income.
