The author described a silhouette of a man, without any visible features. The wings represent the character from the book, so within the whole Inescapable series in my portfolio, you can see different wings.

Normally, we start with an interview where I ask authors questions about their vision, and some background of the story (which remains confidential of course). This is to better understand the general vibe of the particular story, so that I can create a cover that evokes certain emotions, represents the protagonist and so forth.

The process is fairly simple. After the interview, I explain from a professional's point of view what may or may not work. Then comes a sketch, and the digital creation of the cover.

Throughout the process, I will show progress images/snippets so that the authors can confirm is the design going in the right direction.
