We have a simple sign that says "Winery" with an arrow. Because we are on a US Highway, they are calling this a billboard and requiring us to take it down. We found out that "religious expression" is protected, so we want to make a sign that is protected, and still basically directs people to us.
What we want is a sign that says, "Jesus first miracle was turning water into wine. Sponsored by Woods & Waters Winery & Vineyards"
They told me the "sponsored by" part can't take up more than 25% of the surface area of the sign. We want to bump right into that limit.
Also, we aren't allowed to use arrows on the sign, but they said if the font we chose had arrows built into it (say at the bottom of the lowercase letter "y"), then that would be okay.
So ... that is the project. I want it to look really nice, but clearly say that the winery is in a particular direction. The built-in font arrows will have to go one way on one side of the sign and the other way on the other side of the sign.
The speed limit is 65 on a 2-lane road near this sign, so it has to be as clear as possible. Easy to read, etc.
