A hundred years ago, new moms were surrounded by mom, aunts, grandma, sisters—all supporting and helping make this a special time for her. Now we all live spread out... and isolated. We’re trying to bring some of that practical and emotional support for new moms back with Village. (Ditto for hospitalizations, military deployments, relocation, etc.) The flip side is true of the rest of us. So Village is not only focused on those that need help but on all of us who want to help our friends and family even if we may be a little bit more spread out.
On the practical front, our smartphone app makes it easy for friends and family to cover meals, babysitting, etc. It allows them to pitch in to cover the costs of cleaning services, massages, lactation consultants.
On the emotional front, it gives them a place to share funny, embarrassing stories of when they were in her spot. It also lets her know which of her friends and family have also been through really hard things that she is going through (postpartum depression, bad tearing, breastfeeding issues, etc.) so that she knows who she can talk with if she wants to.
Initially, we're targeting new moms and those interested in supporting them, but we will expand to have Village be your place to support your friends in their other big changes or hard times in life as well.
