Port City Java:
Port City Java has been waking up Wilmington, NC since 1995. Since then, the company has grown to serve 30 locations as well as operate its own bakery, coffee roastery and distribution center. Port City Java roasts all of its beans five days a week in Wilmington guaranteeing your coffee will be fresh and flavorful. Conventional coffees are roasted using a 60 kilo Ambex roaster and all of the USDA Organic & Fair Trade coffees we serve are roasted separately on a 15 kilo Victory roaster. Roasting our own coffee gives us total control over the product we serve in our cafes.
Each day, coffee lovers at Port City Java can choose between four different drip brews or a variety of signature espresso based beverages all hand crafted by knowledgeable and friendly Baristas. All of our espresso beverages are served with an extra shot of espresso compared to other coffeehouses. Other noteworthy menu items include smoothies made with real frozen fruit and milkshakes made with real ice cream. Guests looking for a quick nosh can choose between a diverse assortment of muffins, bagels, croissants, cookies and pastries all prepared fresh daily. Cafés also serve a selection of all-natural oatmeal, breakfast sandwiches and breakfast wraps as well as made-to-order salads, wraps and sandwiches for lunch. Cafes offer spacious dining rooms, soft seating areas, complimentary Wi-Fi service and local artwork for guests to enjoy.
Port City Java has partnered with a company called TS Designs to produce our retail t-shirts. This relationship is special to us because all of their shirts are made dirt to shirt right here in North Carolina. Cotton of the Carolinas is a collaboration of farmers and manufacturers across the Carolinas dedicated to growing, making, and selling its t-shirts within the Carolinas. The farmers and manufacturers involved in this program represented over 700 North Carolina employees. These shirts also have lower carbon footprint since the cotton used only travels approximately 700 miles from the cotton fields before becoming a printed/dyed shirt. Compare 700 miles in the Carolinas to a globally-sourced t-shirt that can travel more than 16,000 miles before being sold. Cotton of the Carolinas shirts offer complete product transparency. Maps, images, and tracking paperwork for each harvest are available on their website,, allowing any wearer to track his or her shirt's life from dirt to shirt using the printed reference label on each shirt.
