If you are looking for more inspiration or other ideas to explore you can consider using some of the elements from the bade.
The stars on the badge for the southern cross, a constellation we see in Australia looking up to the sky.
Our club is close to the coast, why the Osprey is our spirit animal totem. The reeds are bade are beech reeds that grow in the sand dunes in the area.
The curves/circle on the badge represent the sand dunes and the waves on the beach.
Now I am not expect you to use all or any of these elements. It may provide additional inspiration in any of your designs.
The dragon is the animal totem of our style. What I failed to mentioned in the initial brief is the the "Osprey" is the animal totem of our club. An Osprey is a bird of prey like an eagle. Google Osprey for some images. Feel free to use an Osprey in the design.
Want something that looks strong, cool, stylish. I don't really know what that is/means, but hoping when I see a design I will know.
It needs to be used as a training shirt worn with karate pants. Also would like it to stylish so can also be worn with blue jeans to casual outings. Finally if possible used as a marketing tool so if students wear it out others will be able to find out about the karate school.
My initial simple design is/was to have the club badge enlarged so it wraps around from the front to the back going under left sleeve taking up about half of the shirt. The other side has the website going from the top to the bottom of the shirt oriented so that from sideways the website details are readable.
Another idea i had was using the Red Dragon icon which is a symbol of the style. The higher ranks have this tattooed under there right arm. I was thinking that the Red Dragon (file attached) could go under the right arm, perhaps enlarged and wrap around form front back. Then the club badge is placed on the left breast/chest/heart pocket.
Other ideas include badge over the shoulder, or badge on the sleeve the website around the neckline, or as a armband on the sleeve.
But I really don't know what I want. So if you think of a better idea let me see it.
As costs are a driving factor, if there is a design constraint that make printing the shirts cheaper then I would prefer that option. If that is the case let me know in the design submission. I will be investigating the printing process as the contest progresses.
The design may also be reused on a jumper or jacket. The T-Shirt is the primary focus as we have a simple "boring" club jacket already. This "reuse" on other clothing is very low priority.
Our club colours are red, black, white. Other colors important to the club are green, blue and yellow.
Yanchep Martial Arts is a part time school. It not how the owners earn a living, but it does have to support itself financially. The school teaches, Krate, Krav Maga, Muay Thai and soon Arnis/Eskrima to adults and kids. The school is built on three ideas, Shuhari, Kaizen and Ikigai. Shuhari Roughly translates to: first learn, then detach, and finally transcend. Kaizen is the practice of continuous improvement. It is a good change and includes both home and business life. Ikigai is the concept of life purpose. I think of it as a reason to get up in the morning. The school's website is: http:/yanchepmartialarts.com.au
Words, phrases or inspirational quotes are fine. Perhaps something as simple as "No Excuses" or something else.
This is my third contest, if may help to have a look at the past wining designs for some inspiration. I almost didn't do another contest as it get hard to pick a wining design, especially with such a limited budget.
Hope all this gives you sufficient inspiration and makes sense if not please ask me questions.
