We are looking for a design for a play on words for a ski run at the Arapahoe Basin ski area.
The concept is bringing the actual run to life in a visual capacity. Robert Deyber is one example of an artist who creates this type of artwork, should you need a reference to the concept we are looking for.
There is a lot of latitude on this project. We are not looking so much for a style, rather an artist (or a few) to work with a rapidly growing company.
For this project, please feel free to create an image for one of the following runs:
1) 13 Cornices
2) West Turbo
3) Land of the Giants
4) The Spine
If you create bubble gum type images or something that would look good in a shirt shop in a ski town on main street, I'll save you time right now, I'm not interested. If you see the concept of 13 Cornices and want to bring 13 wave like Cornices ripping down a mountain in a blizzard I'd love to see it. If Land of the Giants has a group of telemark skiing giants in a boulder laden winter theme (quasi Narnia frosted wonderland) I'd love to see it. If The Spine is an anatomical hybrid image of a spine in a medical journal with frozen veins and snowboarders riding powder stashes amongst the spine itself, you are talking my language. If you think that Mountain Dew does a good job of representing, "extreme sports" and have a mind to create an image fitting that concept, please don't submit.
If you believe that your best work is behind you in general, don't submit.
Include winter stuff - chairlifts, trees with heavy snow, animals, action skiing/snowboarding (of Giants, Spines, Cornices, etc...), snow fencing, shadowy profiles, other cool stuff I cant think of.
If you choose to include a mountain horizon, I may be critical of it or ask you to make an amendment to it so that it fits the run you represent. I'm only critical because I'm on a hunt for the authentic.
Make the RUN the life force. What I mean by that is the ski area is not as important as the run itself is. The run being brought to life as a verb is most important.
Remember how much fun you had the last time you went skiing before you get down on the project.
Fire off something without depth of field
Act without remembering at one point you were the baddest artist in your class on in your neighborhood.
Think about mass sales or making an instant classic.
