There are no specific requirements. We want the designers to have some creative freedom, but here is some information about us, what we do, and ideas we have.
****UPDATE**** WE DO NOT want the logo as the focal point of the shirt. It is included if you feel you want to use it, but it is not a requirement and again, we do not want that as the main idea for the shirt. We added another photo to the references section titled SHIRT STYLE to give an idea of the style of t shirt we are looking for. We do not own those shirts, only using them as reference so please do not just copy them.
We are not looking for any of these ideas or elements to become the main focal point of the shirt, but more for all of them (or the ones you choose to use) to flow together to make a coherent design.
We are Texas Fabrics and Foam, an upholstery fabrics and supply store located in El Paso, TX established in 1974. Main product wording (if used) should be: fabrics - foam - upholstery.
We have an old building sign on our building which has become somewhat iconic in our area. The bottom reads "Todo Para El Tapicero" which is Spanish and translates to "everything for the upholsterer". Considering we are a border town, we thought it would be cool to have that saying in Spanish on the shirt (again, not a requirement).
Also, we want the shirt to represent our city. In our city, we have a star on the mountain which is lit brightly at night. This is something that is an absolute staple of our city, and easily recognizable by any El Pasoan. The mountains as well are also iconic. We'd like to see those included, if possible.
Another idea would be the state of Texas with a star where El Paso is located incorporated into the design (we will attach photos for guidance on what we are talking about here.).
Recently, there was a mass shooting in El Paso. We are a very tight knit community that quickly came together and rose up against this violence. In that, arose the slogan "El Paso Strong". We are not necessarily looking to put that in the shirt, but are not opposed to it either if you feel it works well (we'll include photos of this). If this slogan is used, please do not make it the focal point. We are perfectly ok with including it, but we also don't want to seem as though we are trying to capitalize on the event in any way.
A couple things about our city. We are a border town, a desert town, and known as the Sun City. So additions of things like cactus, or the sun are nice touches.
Lastly, considering our industry. We thought it may be clever to have some or all lines of the design be shown as stitching. Like if it were sewn together. Also, rolls of fabric, furniture, and/or scissors cutting fabric could also represent the industry we are in.
Small social media icons would not be a bad idea either. We are on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.
We are ok with a shirt design of just one side, or it could be front and back if you, the designer, feel that things would fit and/or flow better with front and back design.
Again, these are not requirements. Only thoughts and ideas for guidance. Same with colors. You do not have to stick to the colors we have chosen.
